Convention on Biological Diversity [Biodiversity Convention]

The Contention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is a multilateral treaty to guide national strategies for biodiversity. It supports sustainable development through three objectives:

The conservation of biological diversity,
The sustainable use of the components of biological diversity,
The fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources.
