Fiji’s Intended Nationally Determined Contribution

Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) are national commitments to reduce national greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Fiji submitted their intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat on the 5 November 2015, which was endorsed as Fiji’s first NDC on 22 April 2016. As a signatory to the Paris Agreement, Fiji like other parties to the Paris Agreement is required to present its second and enhanced NDC by the end of 2020. Fiji’s mitigation target comprises a commitment to reduce 30% from the business as usual (BAU) scenario by 2030, of which 10% is unconditional—to be achieved using in country resources—while 20% is conditional on external funding
The current NDC covers renewable energy and energy efficiency economy-wide.
