A cleaner environment starts with all of us.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change today supported the Nasinu Women’s Forum by handing out cleaning materials, including sacks, gloves, and hand sanitisers, for a community clean-up campaign across the Nasinu area.
The clean-up brought together members of the Nasinu Women’s Forum, the Fiji Police Force’s Community Policing Directorate, officers from Nakasi Police and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (FTG), who worked side by side to clean communities from Nakasi to Caubati.
Minister for Environment and Climate Change Hon. Lynda Tabuya applauded the volunteers and partner agencies for demonstrating that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.
“How long can we continue picking up someone else’s rubbish? Every citizen has a responsibility to dispose of their waste properly. Just as we keep our homes clean, we must also keep our communities clean and beautiful,” Hon. Tabuya said.
The Minister said Fiji needs a change in behaviour and a stronger sense of civic pride, encouraging communities to educate one another and adopt stricter measures to discourage irresponsible littering.
The Ministry thanks all volunteers and partners for leading by example and encourages every Fijian to do the right thing, dispose of rubbish responsibly and help keep our communities clean for future generations.
