Climate Reporting and Communication Unit (CRCU)
The Climate Reporting and Communication Unit (CRCU) coordinates Fjii’s Biennial Transparency Report (BTRs), and National Communications (NCs) in accordance with reporting requirements under the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF), Article 13 of the Paris Agreement.
The work of the CRCU under the Department of Climate Change is guided by the National Climate Change Policy (NCCP) 2018-2030 and the Climate Change Act (CCA) 2021, specifically: Part 3 – Implementation of the Paris Agreement & Part 7 – Measurement, Reporting and Verification of Emissions and Emissions Reductions
Key Reporting Areas
- National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report on emissions and emissions reductions for the following sectors:
- Energy Sector
- Waste Sector
- Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use
- Industrial Processes and Product Use
- Information necessary to track progress made in implementing and achieving Nationally Determined Contributions under Article 4 of the Paris Agreement.
- Information related to climate change impacts and adaptation under Article 7 of the Paris Agreement corresponding to the requirements of an Adaptation Communication as specified in Article 7 of the Paris Agreement and Decision
- Information on financial, technology development and transfer and capacity-building support needed and received under Articles 9–11 of the Paris Agreement.
- National Communications (NC) – in addition to the reporting chapters of the BTR, the NC reports on:
- Technology transfer
- Technology needs Assessment Approach
- Technology Needs for Fiji
- Technology Prioritisation and Potential Mitigation Technology Options
- Technology Options for the Adaptation Sectors
- Information on Education, Training and Public Awareness
- Climate Change Education and Awareness

- Climate Change Research and Systematic Observations
