Minister for Information, Environment and Climate Change Hon. Lynda Tabuya welcomed the United States Embassy Fiji’s Chargé d’Affaires, Ms Christina J. Cavallo, during a courtesy call at the Ministry today, 06.08.26.
Hon. Tabuya congratulated Ms. Cavallo on her appointment and reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between Fiji and the United States, which has spanned more than five decades.
The Minister acknowledged the United States’ continued support through academic and professional exchange programmes, including the Fulbright, Humphrey, International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs, as well as the valuable contributions of the U.S. Peace Corps and the Pacific Partnership programme in supporting communities across Fiji.
Discussions also focused on strengthening cooperation in government communications, including opportunities for capacity building, specialised training for government communicators by American experts, and increasing awareness and understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance public communication and better inform Fijians.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Fiji and the United States to continue working together in areas of mutual interest that support the development and wellbeing of the Fijian people.
