As the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting got underway in Palau today, Minister for Information, Environment and Climate Change Hon. Lynda Tabuya, together with Permanent Secretary Dr Sivendra Michael, met with Vanuatu’s Minister for Climate Change Adaptation, Energy, Environment, Meteorology, Geo-Hazards and Disaster Management, Hon. Ralph Regenvanu.
The meeting served as a preparatory discussion ahead of upcoming high-level climate and diplomatic engagements, with a focus on developing a common Pacific position on key climate priorities.
With Pre-COP31 to be held in Fiji and Tuvalu in less than 40 days, Minister Tabuya and Minister Regenvanu also discussed the way forward in strengthening the region’s negotiating priorities and ensuring the Pacific presents a united position ahead of COP31.
